The wood we use at Sonae Arauco comes from sources that are managed in a responsible manner. Our industrial operations are certified by the FSC™ chain of custody standard (Forest Stewardship Council™) and our European operations are also certified by the PEFC™ chain of responsibility (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification™ Schemes). All of our industrial units are certified according to international standards in Environmental Management (ISO 14001), Quality Management (ISO 9001) and Management of Health and Safety at Work (OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001), the majority of which is also certified in Energy Management (ISO 50 001).
With regard to the product portfolio, the Environmental Product Declarations (EPD - Environmental Product Declaration) from Sonae Arauco is verified by Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. and provide a transparent view of its environmental impact through a life cycle assessment, as well as of its technical and functional characteristics. It is a quantitative and objective assessment based on the EN15804 standard, which allows the sustainability of materials to be assessed. Sonae Arauco has EPDs for all product ranges under the Core & Technical, Innovus and AGEPAN® SYSTEM brands. In addition, all Sonae Arauco solutions comply with the rules of the EU REACH legislation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) which aims to protect human health and the environment. |
