Elegance and character in Madeira's new five-star hotel

About the project

The Barceló Funchal Oldtown is the new five-star hotel in Funchal, Madeira. Located in the historic centre of the city, the hotel is the result of a restoration project that involved six 17th century buildings.

The Ethnic Sand (M6299) decor was used in the rooms and the restaurants in the Barceló Funchal Oldtown, as well as in the bar and the function room.

"We took our inspiration from the history and nature of Madeira. We’ve tried to recreate the laurissilva forest, where people enjoy wonderful hikes around the island, by incorporating wicker furniture, which is very typical of local handicrafts, and the decorative elements in the rooms recall the Atlantic Ocean in all its hues", according to Ernesto de Ceano, from the interior design studio responsible for the project.

The Innovus Ethnic Sand (M6299) decor was chosen because it represents the colour of local wood and because it combines elegance and tradition in the different spaces, giving the hotel an authentic character.

"Innovus solutions offer designs that radiate naturalness and come in a wide range of quality textures. Everything we want for our projects".
