The trends shaping contemporary spaces

Every year, Milan Design Week anticipates the trends that will influence the interiors of the future. In 2026, one direction stood out clearly: a growing desire for warmer, more natural and more sensory spaces.

From wood and tactile finishes to earthy colours, stone-inspired surfaces and soft metallics, many of the trends seen in Milan are already part of the Innovus Collection.

Wood takes centre stage

Wood is no longer simply a material choice. Today, it is an essential tool for creating spaces with identity and character.

In Milan, designers explored its more emotional side through warm tones, expressive grains and surfaces that invite touch. From the balanced elegance of oak to the richness of walnut and darker woods, natural materials played a leading role in creating welcoming spaces with a strong connection to nature.

In an increasingly digital world, authenticity continues to be highly valued. Visible grains, natural imperfections and genuine textures bring a sense of comfort that is difficult to replicate with other materials.

The return of warm colours

Colour is no longer a secondary element. It now plays a central role in the expression of materials.

Palettes inspired by earthy, ceramic and mineral tones give shape to warmer, more enveloping interiors.

One of the greatest strengths of these colours is their versatility. When combined with cream, beige or sand tones, warm woods, stone-inspired surfaces, deep browns, olive greens or bronze accents, they make it possible to create spaces with depth and personality.

More than a trend, this evolution reflects a desire to design interiors that feel visually rich and emotionally comfortable.

Metals reimagined

Metallic finishes also stood out at Salone del Mobile, but with a softer and more refined approach.

Bronze, brass and champagne tones appeared repeatedly, often combined with wood, stone and neutral palettes.

The result is elegant, balanced interiors that show how luxury can be understated without losing impact.

The softness of stone for serene and timeless interiors

Milan confirmed the growing relevance of stone-inspired surfaces, now interpreted through a softer and more natural language. Delicate veining, subtle tonal variations and discreet textures are replacing stronger contrasts, giving rise to calmer and more sophisticated interiors.

Easy to combine with warm woods, neutral tones and metallic accents, these surfaces add visual depth without overpowering the space.

Innovus decors such as Colosseum White (F2328) and Quiet Stone (F2315) reflect this trend, bringing together the timeless elegance of stone and the versatility required by contemporary projects.

When textures become an experience

Texture is no longer just a finishing detail. It has become an integral part of how a space is experienced.

Natural textures, soft surfaces and finishes with greater visual depth help create more authentic and welcoming interiors.

Today, materials are valued not only for their appearance, but also for the way they interact with light and with people. Surfaces have moved beyond a purely aesthetic role and now play an important part in the way spaces are lived in and perceived.

Bringing Milan trends into everyday projects

Milan Design Week 2026 showed that interior design is increasingly focused on creating environments that are warm, tactile and connected to natural materials. From woods to stone-inspired surfaces, from earthy colours to sophisticated metallics, the focus is on designing spaces that feel more authentic and comfortable.

The best part? These trends are not limited to conceptual installations or exhibition spaces. They can be easily applied to residential, hospitality or commercial projects through the right combination of materials, colours and textures.

The Innovus Collection already integrates many of these trends, offering a wide range of decors and textures that make it possible to create contemporary, versatile spaces full of personality.

Because trends evolve, but the desire to create welcoming and timeless spaces remains.
